RAINA Raina Yarbrough is a commercial editor and experimental filmmaker who studied at the College for Creative Studies. As a director, her focus lies in crafting experimental narratives that are deeply personal, visually driven, and emotionally resonant. Drawing from her own lived experiences, Raina creates work that speaks through imagery rather than dialogue, embracing the power of “show, don’t tell” to its fullest extent.
Her films often rely heavily on score and cinematography to build mood and meaning, stripping away excess in favor of raw, intuitive storytelling. Whether she’s cutting a fast-paced commercial spot or directing an abstract, emotionally layered short, Raina brings a consistent vision: to create work that is bold, atmospheric, and honest. Her dual background in editing and directing allows her to approach projects with a deep understanding of rhythm, tone, and structure—always with a strong visual point of view. Raina is constantly exploring new ways to challenge form and expectation, both in the commercial space and within her experimental practice. She’s interested in stories that break convention, aesthetics that evoke feeling, and work that stays with you long after it ends. |
